Advertised Summary Job Description: This position directs and coordinates all Development and Grant Proposal activities at the International Center For AIDS and Public Health Programs (ICAP) at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Reporting to the ICAP Deputy Director, the Development and Grants Director is responsible for the identification of new funding sources, new grant opportunities, preparation of applications, and other fund-raising activities. He or she supervises a team of Grants and Development staff, and works closely with other Senior Staff.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree, plus six years of related experience.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, management and organizational skills.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
Knowledge of global health programs, such as HIV/AIDS or maternal and child health.
Knowledge of U.S. Government procurement and grants management rules and regulations.
Demonstrated ability to prepare complex proposals for submission to U.S. Government and other funding sources.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in health administration, business administration, public health or related discipline strongly preferred.
Experience in other aspects of fund raising strongly preferred (e.g., corporate donors, individual donors, fund-raising events, direct mail, etc.)
Experience in marketing not-for-profit organizations preferred.
Experience in program administration and management of international technical assistance, service delivery, and/or research programs preferred.
Experience working in an academic setting preferred.
