Advertised Summary Job Description: The Center for Career Education (CCE) helps undergraduate, graduate students and alumni develop the key competencies necessary to make informed decisions and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals. The Center establishes connections and facilitates interaction among students, alumni, employers and organizations to generate opportunities that help students pursue their personal and professional objectives. CCE serves students in Columbia College, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of General Studies, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, the School of the Arts, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Continuing Education and collaborates with the Career Centers in the other schools at Columbia University and its affiliated institutions.

The Employer and Alumni Relations team is dedicated to helping 700+ employers recruit undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni for full- and part-time employment and internships by providing full-service recruiting assistance including on-campus recruiting and employer outreach. It is similarly committed to marketing the unique talents and skills of Columbia students attracting a wide array of employers, in a diverse range of industries, nationally and internationally to recruit students from the seven schools served by CCE.

The Employer and Alumni Relations team works closely with employers to simplify and maximize their recruitment efforts by:

- Consulting with organizations to understand their immediate and future hiring needs
- Developing targeted recruitment strategies designed to access Columbia talent
- Providing a variety of effective promotional resources
- Offering user-friendly online recruitment management tools

Working with the strategic goals of the Employer and Alumni Relations team, aligned with those of CCE, the Outreach Specialist will cultivate, develop and secure employer leads for student opportunities. The specialist will work with the faculty and administrators of the schools that CCE serves to understand the demographics, skill sets, and interests of the students. This data will be used to identify potential employer leads and convert them into on campus recruiting contacts through in person, phone and email meetings. A focus will be placed on securing employer relationships for CCE programming and activities.

Using the networks within the University community, the Outreach Specialist will build relationships and prospect for opportunities through a variety of activities including, but not limited to: attending evening and weekend alumni programming and events; meeting with faculty and administrators to exchange contacts; meeting with key alumni and students to source leads and attending conferences and other key association meetings to enhance outreach opportunities.

Document and track all activity through our network-based CRM tool including lead/prospect data entry, detailed activity reports, setting tasks for follow-up and lead tracking for future and existing employer leads. Provide monthly and quarterly reports on outcomes. Manage new employer relationships for recruiting and programming events. Collect data for annual department reporting purposes.

Provide marketing support for business communications of the outreach team including website, email, and newsletter campaigns. Share reports with students, employers, University administrators and other stakeholders.

Participate in Career Education program planning and assist other Center staff with implementation. Attend Center-wide mandatory events.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required. A minimum of 3 years related experience in career services, corporate recruiting, sales, college relations, customer service, operations and/or marketing, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required. Excellent relationship cultivation and management skills required. Must be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a pressured, short-deadline environment. Ability to work well independently and operate within a team-based environment. High level of organizational and event management skills required. Able to be creative and resourceful. Must be service oriented.

Job will require up to 50% of time out of the office, meeting employers on-site. Some domestic and international travel may be required.

Valid Driver's License and passport (or equivalent) needed for travel.
