Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Senior Programmer/Analyst, the incumbent is assigned to various application development, conversion and integration projects. Responsibilities include: integrating software components from diverse sources including locally-developed, commercial, and open source applications and systems; participating in the development and implementation of a Web Portal solution for Columbia Law School; participating in implementation of locally developed database driven web applications including server side programming; designing and implementing multi-tier Web applications for various departments of the Columbia Law School using open source development tools (Java, Spring, Struts/WebWork, AJAX); participating in migration of existing client-server application to the web; training faculty, administrators and staff in the use of software as needed; providing technical support with respect to business needs, software functionality, reporting, and interfaces; designing and developing various reports for existing departmental applications; writing documentation and online help systems for newly developed applications; installing/upgrading/evaluating new software development tools; performing other duties as needed or required.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field and at least 2 years of full-time related programming experience or the equivalent required. Required technical experience includes: working knowledge of UNIX and MS Windows Operating Systems, strong Java, extensive experience in developing programs/applications using state-of-the art Web 2.0 tools, JSP/AJAX, Struts/WebWork, Spring/Hibernate, Javascript, JQuery, CSS, RSS, Qualifications also include: familiarity with web portals and portlets development, strong knowledge of RDBS as Informix, Oracle, and/or MySQL. The candidate should be willing to learn new programming technologies and must possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
