Summary Description: The National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health seeks an experienced preparedness professional or established academician with a proven track record in both grant-funded academic research and applied research, as well as management experience. The successful candidate will function as the Deputy Director (Administration and External Relations), will assist the Director with long-term strategies for program development and vision for the Center, and will work with members of the Center's senior management team to ensure that the Center's goals and objectives are met. The Deputy Director will be responsible for maintaining Center relationships with government agencies and officials and must be able to travel and make presentations on behalf of the Center as a senior representative. Faculty rank commensurate with academic experience and strength of grant funding and publication record. Interested candidates should attach a cover letter, current vita, one research paper and three letters of recommendation with application.


Minimum Qualifications: Qualified applicants must a doctorate degree, considerable experience competing for federal research grants, academic publishing at the level of an established researcher and scholar. Five years experience in the field of disaster medicine, emergency preparedness, bioterrorism education, public health preparedness or related field required. Proven record of excellent management, leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills also required.
